Valentines In The North Georgia Mountains

Everyone’s idea of romance is different.  For some, romance involves gowns and dancing, for others, romance is a trip to a restaurant and a movie.  But one of the most romantic places on earth is right in your own backyard: the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Spend Valentine’s Day in a secluded cabin nestled among towering trees and snow-capped peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains. As you sip a steaming cup of hot cocoa by the fire, you fall in love all over again.  Soak in the hot tub while gazing at the beautiful scenery that surrounds you and relax in the luxury of your richly furnished cabin.

At the base of the mountain, the small town of Ellijay awaits you.  Called by many the “modern day Mayberry”, Ellijay offers a little bit of everything.  This tiny town has a lot to offer, whether your taste runs to the quiet side or you prefer a more fun loving getaway.  Enjoy the day browsing the many quaint shops, take a scenic drive, or head to nearby Blue Ridge for some extra special shopping.  When evening falls, an intimate dinner for two awaits you at one of the many fine restaurants nearby. After a quiet dinner, head back to your cabin for a soak in your private hot tub, or simply to gaze at the stars that light the sky like tiny diamonds.

If you prefer to arrive and never leave (and who could blame you!) preorder one of our many great packages, such as our Gourmet Dinner For Two, and enjoy an entire weekend of relaxation and each other.

Your Valentine’s Day getaway to the North Georgia Mountains can be as fun filled or as quiet as you like. There truly is something for everyone here, with love and romance at every turn.

Fort Mountain Banana Walnut Pancakes

Fluffy, Delicious, Comforting and Guilt Free!

Makes about 20 pancakes (feeds 8-10 people)

             1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour

            1 cup whole wheat flour

            ¼ cup wheat germ

            1 tablespoon baking powder

            1 ½ teaspoons baking soda

            Salt (optional)

            2 eggs, room temperature

            ¼ cup oil

            2 cups buttermilk, room temperature

            6 tablespoons honey

2 ripe medium bananas, peeled and mashed

In a large bowl stir together the flours, wheat germ, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to taste.

In a separate bowl beat the eggs.

Blend in the oil, buttermilk, honey and bananas mixing well.

Pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients, and stir just until moistened.

Brush a hot griddle or skillet with oil.  Pour about ¼ cup of batter per pancake onto the griddle and spread to make a flat pancake.

Serve with sliced banana and a dollop of yogurt on top.

Why Choose Wilderness View Cabins?

Searching for the perfect cabin for your vacation can be frustrating.  There are so many available and they all look perfect, so how do you choose?  The company you choose to book with makes as much as a difference as the cabin you pick out.

Here are a few things to think about before you make your reservation for a mountain getaway!

ON SITE STAFF!

Many cabin rental companies are property managers, not owners.  Some may not even have an office!  You never come face to face with anybody; it is by phone or email.  You are given directions and a key code and that’s it!

What happens if you have a problem?  What happens if you get lost?  What happens if you can’t figure out how to work the TV?  Nothing.  Most of these companies are open 9-5, Monday through Friday; unless your vacation is keeping banker hours, find somewhere that has on site staff available for you.

SECLUSION!

Make sure that you ask plenty of questions before booking your cabin.  Many cabins are located in residential areas.  That’s not a getaway, that’s a house swap!  You want privacy and seclusion (do you really want to hop in the hot tub with neighbors ten feet away?) and you deserve it!

SECURITY!

Going along with seclusion is security.  Who are those neighbors anyway?   They could be anyone, and by renting a cabin for a week next door to them, anything could happen!  Know where your cabin is before you book it!

NO HIDDEN FEES!

We all hate hidden fees, yet many rental companies have them and don’t tell you until after you book.  Processing fees and reservation fees are the top two hidden fees.  Usually it is a set amount ($25) but sometimes it can be a percentage (5%) and that can add up quick!  99% of cabin rental companies will have a cleaning fee, that is expected; but there should not ever be any other fee at booking time!

Ask plenty of questions and know where your cabin is and who you are dealing with.  If they are a large management company, consider looking elsewhere.  They don’t care about you as a guest; they care about renting the cabin for the owner.

For a true mountain getaway experience that is focused on YOU as OUR guest, come stay with us where we treat you as a guest, not a number!

Trout Fishing

North Georgia is known by many anglers as a great place for trout fishing. There are numerous creeks, rivers, and streams and many of them are stocked each year to keep the numbers up. Quite often you can find a place on your own but first time travelers to the area will generally have the best experience if they hire one of the skilled guides in the area.

Grab your favorite bait, a pole, and your sense of adventure and head to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Ellijay and Chatsworth GA for some of the best fishing in the Southeast. There are plenty of fish for almost any bait but we recommend that you consider fly fishing this area. Fly Fishing in North Georgia is an experience that you will remember for a lifetime.

If you prefer lake fishing then check out Carter’s Lake. Carter’s lake has campsites, RV hookups, boat rentals, and just about everything you need for a fun filled day of fishing.

Trout Fishing
Mountaintown Trout Club is a semi private venue located less than 90 minutes from downtown Atlanta. The club maintains two miles of private trout water as well as some of the best deer and turkey hunting North Georgia has to offer. more…..
Mountaintown Trout is designed to provide an exclusive experience for its members and guests. Our members can choose from a full day on our trophy managed trout water or even a combined day’s excursion with hunting and fishing offered by our “Cast and Blast” package. This hidden gem of a stream has everything from typical mountain laurel confined runs to beautiful meadows that look like something right out of Montana. Plunge pools to pocket water, bottomless holes and meandering bends all make for a fishing experience hard to duplicate anywhere. The really great asset to this stream is it’s accessibility from metro Atlanta.
Whether you’re driving up from Marietta or the airport, there isn’t an easier-to-access trophy stream available in the state. Mountain town caters primarily to its corporate members and theirs guests. We do not mass advertise to the public but rather do a select number of trips typically through member referrals. An event at Mountain town includes exclusive access to the property the entire day of your trip. We do not put multiple trips on the same day. “North Georgia’s Premier Trout and Turkey Destination” Located in Ellijay, Georgia.
