Are you bringing your bike with you to see the sights in North Georgia? Our luxury cabins are just a few miles away from some of the best mountain biking trails in Georgia.

The Pinhoti Trail

The Pinhoti Trail is less than a mile from our cabins. This trail is part of the Eastern Continental Trail, which includes the famous Appalachian Trail. The Pinhoti’s southern terminus lies far south in Alabama, with 164 miles of trail running through Georgia. In total, the trail is over 250 miles long, and joins the Benton McKaye Trail just north of our cabins, and finally connects into the Appalachian Trail on nearby Springer Mountain.

The section of the Pinhoti Trail that runs through north Georgia is an excellent, scenic destination for both mountain biking and hiking.

Fort Mountain State Park

Fort Mountain State Park, just two miles from our rental cabins, is one of the best-kept parks in Georgia and offers miles of biking trails inside the park for the beginner, intermediate, or expert mountain biker. These trails have some of the best scenery of any mountain biking trails in North Georgia.

Some of the trails at Fort Mountain include:

Lake Trail Loop (beginner)

The Lake Trail is a beginner-rated trail that loops around the lake at Fort Mountain State Park. The Lake Loop makes for a relaxing ride along the lake banks, and is a great place to introduce beginners to trail riding.

Gold Mine Loop (intermediate)

The Gold Mine Loop takes you up and down some tough climbs and technical descents across 6.3 miles through what were once gold mining roads. A relatively long climb ends the loop leading back to the parking lot.

Cool Springs Loop (intermediate to advanced)

The Cool Springs Loop runs 7 miles through the park, with great views including some small streams and waterfalls. The trail offers technically challenging downhills, dropping about 800 feet over a mile, with a tough uphill climb back to the trailhead.

East-West Loop (advanced)

The East-West Loop, a 14 mile trail around the park, is the most challenging trail in Fort Mountain State Park and is only recommended for experienced mountain bikers. This trail is almost entirely singletrack, with steep downhill sections, hairpin turns, and long, challenging climbs.

Bear Creek Trail

Bear Creek Trail is a nearby 6.5 mile loop, and one of the most popular mountain biking trails in the area. It’s accessible from Gates Chapel Road, which is just 7 miles from our cabins. This is another great mountain biking trail through wooded trails and old logging roads. The trail is also home to the second largest tree in North Georgia, the Gannett Poplar, named after the family that originally owned the land. The chance to see the tree is reason enough to ride this trail.

The Pinhoti Trail connects into the Bear Creek Trail, making it possible to see both on the same route.

Wilderness View Cabins

All of these trails are just a short trip away from our luxury rental cabins and are an exciting way to spice up your vacation to North Georgia. Bring your bike, ride the trails, and then come back and relax on the porch or in the hot tub of your secluded cabin.

Searching for the perfect cabin for your vacation can be frustrating. There are so many available and they all look perfect, so how do you choose? The company you choose to book with makes as much as a difference as the cabin you pick out.

Here are a few things to think about before you make your reservation for a mountain getaway!

ON SITE STAFF!

Many cabin rental companies are property managers, not owners. Some may not even have an office! You never come face to face with anybody; it is by phone or email. You are given directions and a key code and that’s it!

What happens if you have a problem? What happens if you get lost? What happens if you can’t figure out how to work the TV? Nothing. Most of these companies are open 9-5, Monday through Friday; unless your vacation is keeping banker hours, find somewhere that has on site staff available for you.

SECLUSION!

Make sure that you ask plenty of questions before booking your cabin. Many cabins are located in residential areas. That’s not a getaway, that’s a house swap! You want privacy and seclusion (do you really want to hop in the hot tub with neighbors ten feet away?) and you deserve it!

SECURITY!

Going along with seclusion is security. Who are those neighbors anyway? They could be anyone, and by renting a cabin for a week next door to them, anything could happen! Know where your cabin is before you book it!

NO HIDDEN FEES!

We all hate hidden fees, yet many rental companies have them and don’t tell you until after you book. Processing fees and reservation fees are the top two hidden fees. Usually it is a set amount ($25) but sometimes it can be a percentage (5%) and that can add up quick! 99% of cabin rental companies will have a cleaning fee, that is expected; but there should not ever be any other fee at booking time!

Ask plenty of questions and know where your cabin is and who you are dealing with. If they are a large management company, consider looking elsewhere. They don’t care about you as a guest; they care about renting the cabin for the owner.

For a true mountain getaway experience that is focused on YOU as OUR guest, come stay with us where we treat you as a guest, not a number!

Personal Care Items
Personal care items other than two rolls of bathroom tissue and a travel size bar of soap in each bathroom are not stocked in your cabin so you must bring your own toiletries as well as a hair dryer or curling iron if you wish to use one on your trip.

If you plan on being outdoors a lot in the warmer months it is a good idea to bring sunscreen and bug spray.

Around the Kitchen
Kitchens are stocked with basic cookware, cooking utensils, plates and cups, one roll of paper towels, coffee makers, microwaves, toasters and manual can openers.

If you want to cook something requiring a special utensil such as a basting bulb or brush you should bring your own. If you need very large cookware or storage containers for leftovers, tin foil or zip loc bags you should plan on bringing some along.

Food and condiments are not stocked in the cabin.

Grilling outdoors
All of our luxury cabins have gas grills with the gas tanks supplied by Wilderness View Cabins.

Towels and Linens
Plenty of bath towels and wash towels are supplied in each of our cabins as well as pillows, linens and blankets for all regular beds. This starter supply should be more than enough for 3 or 4 day stays.

Laundry
Cabins that have washing machines do not have laundry detergent so you must bring your own. We suggest buying a small travel size.

Telephones
All cabins have a telephone where you can receive phone calls or call 911. Bring a calling card for outgoing calls you wish to make. All of our cabins have local calling service.

Cell Phones
Cell phone service is spotty and can vary by season and weather conditions – the same for cellular internet service. You will be given your cabin phone number at check in and we suggest sharing it with your family and friends at that time.

Internet Service
All of our cabins have wireless internet for your convenience. These cabins do not have computers for your use so you must bring your own – preferably a laptop.

Your computer must have a wireless card for it to work properly.

Clothing
Although the Blue Ridge Mountains have very moderate temperatures, as with any mountain environment it can get very cool in the high altitudes even in summer so be sure to bring rain gear and warm clothing. You may wish to bring a robe for the outside hot tub, especially during the colder months.

Last but not least!
Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture all of those great mountain memories!

Wilderness View Cabins want you to have a safe and enjoyable vacation and we welcome your comments and suggestions about your stay with us.

Ready for a North Georgia Adventure? Head to the mountains for some fun in the sun!

There is nothing quite as thrilling as a white water rafting tour through the Ocoee River. From the moment you enter the water you’ll be on an exhilarating non-stop ride of splashing fun. The river is dam controlled, so the water levels are always consistent and the ride is never boring!

Ocoee Rafting, just a short drive from our cabins, has been in business since 1976 and uses only highly experienced and trained river guides for your safety and enjoyment. No experience is necessary and they supply all the needed equipment for your rafting adventure.

Rafting season runs the third weekend in March through the first weekend in November. Getting wet on a rafting adventure is only half the fun; doing everything you can to stay in the raft is the other half.

Take a soak in your cabins hot tub to relieve your tired muscles after a day on the river; a rafting adventure in the North Georgia Mountains gets no better!
